"Dead Poets' Society" is a Peter Weir's film of 1989. It deals
among others with education, poetry, feelings, passions, and aim of life,
the themes I have developed here.
The file is a personal approach of the film. I hope it will satisfy you,
will give you the desire to discover or to rediscover "DPS", and
why not to create a new Society ?
It is composed of different parts, perhaps some could have been more developed
but I have voluntarily laid emphasis on the general content. I wanted to treat
many aspects of the film, to have diversity in my project.
I wish you a great trip around the "DPS." And… old on to your
hats ! I suggest you, at take off, the credits and a short summary of the
film. Then you will penetrate in the fascinating universe of Peter Weir, will
discover the film's poster, then you will meet the actors and their characters,
especially Robin Williams, in the part of Mr. Keating. An air hostess will
make you observe their evolution in the course of the film, then you will
fly above the themes chosen.
During the trip, you will go into Walt Whitman's poetry, will
be into serious or romantic conflicts, will see the other size of the pictures,
and you will ask some existential questions, the whole on music tunes.
There your journey will be about to finish. You will land in the company of
Nancy Kleinbaum, the writer of the book at the root of the film, you could
read some appreciations, and if the heart tells you some, start off again
more than ever, the sources in the bag, for new adventures.
